Two persons arrested, FIR registered : Police

Srinagar, July 21: Days after, two doctors were beaten up by attendants in SMHS and Super Specialty of Government Medical College, Srinagar, a paramedic has met the same fate after attendants allegedly beat him in Medical ICU of SMHS hospital here in Srinagar.

Desperate Paramedic told news agency KDC that the incident took place after there was exchange of arguments over the shifting of pneumonia patient from one bed to another one.

“We were involved in talks, I was explaining to the attendants of pneumonia patient that it will not be feasible to shift the patient to other bed due to medical reasons and it may lead to severe issues, even the patient was not wearing a mask. Suddenly from no where the attendants of other patient attacked me, I was beaten and abused. What was my crime” he said.

The incident resulted into the grave injuries to the paramedic and he has been hospitalized after the incident.

Meanwhile, Police have arrested two persons in the connection and registered a case in this regard under relevant sections of law and set further investigations into motion.

Pertinently, there seems no end to incidents of attacks on doctor’s and paramedics across the valley as from past many days constant reports of them being attacked and abused have surfaced.(KDC)
