GANDERBAL, JUNE 09: The Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, P.K Pole today visited the Mini Maternity Centre (MMC) Wayil Ganderbal which is designated as Covid Health Centre for conduct of surgeries and treatment of Covid-19 positive/suspected pregnant women of the district.
During the visit the Div Com was accompanied by the Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal, Shafqat Iqbal, Additional Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal, Farooq Ahmad Baba, CMO Ganderbal besides other official from health department.
During the visit, the Div Com took firsthand appraisal of facilities available there and other facilities that are to be made available as per guidelines for Covid Health Centre.
He took stock of bedding, medial equipments, protective gears, electricity, water and other related facilities.
         The Div Com directed the CMO Ganderbal to take all necessary arrangements at the earliest so that the hospital is made operational by or before mid-June for conducting necessary treatment and surgeries of the pregnant women testing positive for covid-19 infection.
He exhorted the CMO that the hospital shall be efficiently utilized to augment medical facility for pregnant ladies who are Covid positive or suspected.
The Div Com also took stock of basic facilities available there including water, electricity and other allied facilities and asked that DC that all such facilities shall be made available round the clock before the operationalization of hospital so that the patient and staff do not suffer.
While discussing about the availability of staff for the Hospital, the Div Com asked the CMO that dedicated medial and paramedical staff should be made available for operationalizing the hospital round the clock.
On the occasion the CMO raised the issue of dearth of medical staff in the district for which the Div Com said the additional staff will be provided by the CMO Bandipora.
He also stressed for making availability of all protective gears including PPE kits, gloves, masks, hand sanitizers and other medical equipments.
`Speaking on the occasion the Div Com said that the facility will go a long way in avoiding un-necessary referrals to other maternity hospitals of the valley and delaying treatment of positive ladies of the district. The treatment and surgeries for positive pregnant ladies will be conducted in complete observance of medical protocol, he added.
