Jammu, November 01:Three members of a police party were today injured in an alleged attack by a group of locals when they had gone to Rajouri district’s Ladote-Jamola village to arrest some persons, a senior officer said.

A team from Kandi police station went to Mohalla Barer in the village to arrest Mohd Farooq and his associates for attacking a family and damaging their vehicle at Mandir Gala, SSP Rajouri Yogal Manhas said tonight.

“When the police team reached there, the accused tried to foil their arrest by attacking the personnel and pelting stones on them. Some women also pelted stones in which two personnel got injured,” the SSP said.

“Accused also caught hold of SPO Sabar Shah and attacked him with sharp-edged weapons resulting deep and sharp wounds on his face and head,” he said, adding other two personnel were identified as constables Mohd Ayub and Qadir Hussain.

The injured personnel were taken to the district hospital, Rajouri, Manhas said.

Several people from the Mohalla have been booked on the charge of attempt to murder for the attack, the SSP said, adding the police have initiated investigation in the matter.
