Kulgam, August 04: Kulgam Police in its continuous efforts against social crimes, arrested a drug peddler and recovered contraband substance from his possession.
Police party of Police Station Behibagh headed by SHO Behibagh Insp Sabzar Ahmad while patrolling in the jurisdiction of Police Station Behibagh spotted a person roaming in suspicious manner and carrying a gunny bag with him near Noonnai Turigam crossing.
On spotting the Police party, the said person tried to flee from the spot. He was chased by the Police party and was apprehended tactfully. The bag filled with Poppy Straw like substance weighing 10 Kg was recovered.
The identity of the said drug peddler has been ascertained as Mohammad Altaf Mantoo S/O Abdul Gani Mantoo R/O Matibugh Yaripora.
Regarding the incident case FIR No.48/2021 U/S 8/15 of NDPS act stands registered in Police Station Behibagh and further investigation into the matter has been initiated. Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddling or any other anti social activities in their vicinity.
