GANDERBAL, JULY 16:  Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal, Shafqat Iqbal today inaugurated a day long Kissan Mela as part of Kissan Pakhwada activities here at Madri Meharban stadium.

The Mela was organized by Department of Agriculture in collaboration with allied departments to target cent percent saturation of farmer welfare schemes including subsidy schemes, Kissan Credit Card (KCC), PM-KISAN, etc.

After inaugurating the camp, the DC along with Additional Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal, Farooq Ahmad Baba and Joint Director Agriculture, Kashmir Choudhary Mohd Iqbal inspected the stalls erected by the department and allied sectors for information of farmer community and interacted with the participating farmers to get the feedback of various schemes. The stalls exhibited high yielding hybrid plant saplings, seed varieties and latest machinery for various farming related activities besides various schemes being implemented by the Government.

The DC while speaking on the occasion urged the farmers to avail the benefits of various flagship programmes and schemes in agriculture sector and allied wings which are intended at doubling the farmers’ income and provide economic security against natural calamities.

He also impressed upon the officers and field functionaries to make the programme a grand success by covering all the farmers including those engaged in Horticulture, Diary, Fisheries, Sheep rearing etc. under KCC scheme and intensify mass awareness in their work area regarding farmer’s welfare schemes.

later DC also distributed Kissan Credit Cards among farmers and dedicated a Refrigerated Van to the farmers of the district for transportation of vegetables and other agri-products to markets outside the district.

Among others, Chief Agriculture Officer, Chief Horticulture Officer, AD Fisheries, Lead District Manager besides officers and officials of various allied departments were present on the occasion.
