Srinagar, Nov 9 (KS): Jammu and Kashmir Police on Thursday said to have recovered incriminating material besides arms and ammunition from the militant killed in an encounter in south Kashmir’s Shopian.

“Acting on specific information regarding the presence of a militant in village Kathohalan area of district Shopian, a joint cordon and search operation was launched by Shopian Police and Army (02 Rajput) in the said area”, reads a statement issued to Kashmir Scroll.

“During the search operation, as the joint search party approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding militant fired indiscriminately upon them, which was retaliated effectively leading to an encounter.”

“In the ensuing encounter, 01 local militant identified as Maiser Ahamd Dar @Adil son of Ghulam Nabi Dar resident of Vishroo Payeen, linked with proscribed militant outfit TRF was killed and his body was retrieved from the site of encounter”, reads the statement.

“Incriminating materials, arms & ammunition were recovered from the site of the encounter. All the recovered materials have been taken into case records for further investigation”, reads the statement.

“In this regard, a case under relevant sections of law has been registered and further investigation is in progress. People are requested to cooperate with Police till the area at the encounter site is completely sanitized and cleared of all the explosive materials, if any”, the statement read further. (KS)
