Budgam April 09: Acting tough against the persons involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals, police have seized 11 vehicles and arrested 10 persons in Kulgam and Budgam.

In Kulgam, a police party headed by IC PP Mirbazar at a checkpoint established at Mirbazar seized four vehicles and arrested four persons involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals from nallahs especially from Veshaw Nallah. They have been identified as Mohd Rafiq Bhat son of Abdul Khaliq Bhat resident of Qaimoh, Shabir Ahmad Ashwar son of Abdul Salam Ashwar resident of Qaimoh, Jahangir Ahmad son of Abdul Salam resident of Devsar and Prince son of Ashwani Kumar resident of Tawara Punjab.

In Budgam, Police Station Beerwah received an information regarding illegal extraction of soil from Government land in Bunhama village. Accordingly, a police party of Police Station Beerwah raided the specific location and seized 07 tippers and arrested 06 persons involved in illegal extraction and transportation of soil. The arrested persons have been identified as Muzaffer Ahmad Sofi son of Mohd Maqbool Sofi resident of Batapora Budgam, Zubair Ahmad Wani son of Abdul Khaliq Wani resident of Gampora, Kumail Hussain Wani son of Fayaz Ahmad Wani resident of Poonchgund, Wilayat Hussain Lone son of Ali Mohd Lone resident of Poonchgund, Bilal Ahmad Wani son of Bashir Ahmad Wani resident of Sarthpora, Anayat Hussain Wani son of Mohd Bakir Wani resident of Sarathpora Budgam.

Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations and investigations have been initiated. Moreover, all the arrested persons have been shifted to police stations where they remain in custody.

Persons found indulging in illegal mining activities shall be dealt as per law. Community members are requested to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with their concerned police units.
