Shopian, Oct 16 (KS): Security forces claimed to have apprehended a hybrid militant in South Kashmir’s Shopian district on Monday evening.

An official told News Agency Kashmir Scroll that the arrest took place during a joint operation conducted today evening.

Hs said the operation involved the Shopian Police, Army’s 34 RR, SOG PC Imamsahib, and 178 Bn CRPF, who established a naka and conducted patrolling in the villages of Manihal, Aloora, and DK Pora.

During the naka checking at Manihal Crossing, the police observed suspicious movement of an individual approaching the naka point on foot.

Upon realizing the presence of the police party and security forces, the suspect attempted to flee but was apprehended by the alert naka party using tactful strategies.

The individual was later identified as Bilal Ahmad Shah, son of Miraq Shah and a resident of Vessu Qazigund.

During the subsequent search, the security forces discovered several incriminating materials in Bilal Ahmad Shah’s possession.

These included one illicit pistol, a magazine, 14 live rounds of ammunition, a mobile phone, and his Aadhar card.

Upon preliminary questioning, the suspect confessed that he had received the illicit weapon and ammunition from an active terrorist.

His intention was to utilize these resources to carry out an attack within the jurisdiction of the Shopian district.

The officer said that a case bearing FIR NO. 54/2023 has been registered at PS Imamsahib under various sections, 7/25 IAA, 18, 20, and 23 UA(P) and further investigation has set into motion.(KS)
