Ganderbal, October 10:As part of its Civic Action Programme, Ganderbal Police in collaboration with District Hospital Ganderbal and Kashmir Speaks (NGO) organized an extensive awareness programme, rallies, and a Nukkad Natak on the eve of World Mental Health Day to spread awareness about mental well-being and the ill effects of drug addiction.
The event, held at Government Boys Higher Secondary School Ganderbal, witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, teachers, health professionals, and police personnel. An awareness rally was flagged off from Beehama and culminated at Duderhama, with participants carrying banners and placards promoting mental health and drug de-addiction messages.
A Nukkad Natak (street play) performed by S.R Theatre Group captivated the audience, highlighting the devastating impact of drug abuse and the importance of emotional resilience.
SSP Ganderbal Shri Khalil Ahmad Poswal-JKPS chaired the event and interacted with the participants. In his address, he underscored the vital connection between mental health and societal harmony. He encouraged the youth to stay away from drugs and act as ambassadors of awareness within their communities.
Medical experts from District Hospital Ganderbal and representatives of Kashmir Speaks also addressed the gathering, enlightening participants about the early signs of mental distress, coping mechanisms, and the importance of timely medical intervention.
The programme concluded with a collective pledge to work together for a drug-free and mentally healthy society.
