Ganderbal:Due to inclement weather conditions and amid heavy Snowfall, On the directions of worthy SSP Ganderbal Shri Nikhil Borkar-IPS, Police Party from Police Station Sonamarg and Police Station Gund today launched a massive rescue operation under the supervision of SDPO Kangan Shri Yasir Qadri-JKPS at morning hours.

During rescue operation,
Tourists stranded at Sonmarg following heavy snowfall were evacuated by police and shifted to safer places. Over 50 tourists at Sonmarg were evacuated by Ganderbal Police after they received information about their presence.

It is pertinent to mention here that Ganderbal Police arranged a number of vehicles from Gagangeer to Sonamarg and brought all the tourists back to Ganderbal wherefrom they left for Srinagar via under construction Z morh tunnel as the main road was blocked due to avalanche and tourists were stranded without proper vehicles and without electricity.

As the snow continued, over 50 tourists got stranded in Sonamarg but due to swift action Police Party managed to rescue them all by providing them safer shelter. SHOs from Gund and Sonmarg Police Stations were also part of the operation.

All the common people are requested not to venture out to higher reaches in view of inclement weather conditions and continuously heavy snowfall.
