Dooru, Nov 20 (KNO): Forget about daily needs, this lady from South Kashmir’s Anantnag district is not even capable of buying vegetables for a day from her monthly salary.

It has been 20 years now since Azzi Banoo, 40, wife of Muhammad Saleem Monchi is working as a sweeper in a Government Middle School Panzoo on a meager salary of Rupees one hundred per month.

Azzi, who hails from Panzoo village of Verinag, has to clean nine rooms every day at Middle school Panzoo to get Rs 100 as monthly salary.

In the 90s, Azzi was employed as a sweeper on a monthly salary of Rs 25 in middle school Panzoo. She hoped that for a respectable salary in the years to come.

However, nothing has changed for the lady in last two decades as her salary was hiked from Rs 25 to just Rs 100, which in the present time is not even sufficient to buy vegetables for a day.

Azzi told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the world has changed in 20 years but for her the salary has only been hiked from Rs 25 to Rs 100.

She said she doesn’t work in the morning hours only but has to spend even nights at the school in case any damage occurs to the school.

“So far, I have knocked the doors of every authority, but their repeated promises have proved hoax on ground,” she said, adding that they are facing hardships as they don’t have any other source of income.

Azzi says she has not been paid even this small amount several times. “How will my family survive on Rs 100,” she questioned while urging the authorities to look into the matter so that her family could heave a sigh of relief—(KNO)
