Ganderbal Oct 22 : An Awareness camp regarding forest fire prevention was organized by Sindh Forest Division, Ganderbal in collaboration with Forest Protection Force, Social Forestry and an NGO- National Society for Protection of Water Resources, Wetlands & Forests at Govt. High School Urpash Ganderbal.

The program witnessed wide participation from Sarpanchs, Panchs and general public particularly students. People were made aware about importance of Forests and impact of forest fires on ecology, environment and lives of forest fringe communities.

DFO Sindh while speaking on the occassion stressed upon the participation & cooperation of people in controlling the forest fires and mitigating risks associated with them. Chairman of NGO society sh. Nazir be Nazir talked about the importance of forests and role of young students in shaping the future of forest management.

On the occassion the pamphlets were distributed and people were requested to report forest fires to control room and concerned Range officers. Control Room vehicle with mic & loudspeaker was flagged off to carry awareness in the Forest fringe villages. A plantation drive was also conducted under Green J&K drive in the periphery of Urpash panchayat Halqa.
