Ganderbal:An Awareness camp regarding forest fire prevention was organized by Sindh Forest Division, Ganderbal in collaboration with Forest Protection Force, Army and PRIs at chattergul Bala Kangan.
The program witnessed wide participation from Sarpanchs, Panchs, Army, civil society members and general public particularly young kids. People were made aware about importance of Forests and impact of forest fires on ecology, environment and lives of forest fringe communities.

DFO Sindh while speaking on the occassion stressed upon the participation & cooperation of people in controlling the forest fires and mitigating risks associated with them. Major Chandel of 24 RR talked about the importance of forests and assured full support to forest field staff for discharging their duties especially in night hours. Shri Atta Mohd, Civil society member and head Forest protection committee talked about the cooperation of local people in protecting forests of chattergul and assured full cooperation to the department.

on the occassion the pamphlets were distributed and people were requested to report forest fires to control room and concerned Range officers. Control Room vehicle with mic & loudspeaker was flagged off to carry awareness in the Forest fringe villages. A plantation drive was also conducted under Green J&K drive in the compound of Panchayat ghar Chattergul.
