Srinagar, Dec 25, KNT: The Weather Department here on Monday forecast mainly “dry” in Jammu and Kashmir till the end of this month.

The Weather Department said that there is no chance of any rainfall till December 31 and the weather will remain dry across Jammu and Kashmir.

The Department said that no large change was expected in the days ahead and the weather was likely to stay “mainly dry” from December 25-31.

Meanwhile, amid freezing conditions, dense fog has engulfed Kashmir Valley making it difficult for drivers to ply on roads.

Even after 10 AM on Monday, Srinagar witnessed a dense fog hitting the smooth flow of vehicular and pedestrian movement on the roads.

Kashmir Valley recorded below freezing temperature. The Weather Department said that Srinagar recorded minus 2.3°C. The hill station of Pahalgam recorded a low of minus 4.3°C while Gulmarg recorded minus 3.5C. Qazigund recorded a minimum of minus 2.6°C, Kokernag minus 1.6°C, Banihal recorded 6.2°C, Batote 5.9°C and Bhaderwah 2.4°C.

Pertinently, Kashmir valley is under ‘Chillai-Kalan’, the 40-day harsh period of winter starting from Dec 21 to January 31. [KNT]
