After patients, removal of 150 oxygen cylinders was challenge: F&E officials, damage assessment being done: MS B&J hospital

Srinagar Mar 05 (KNO): The patients who were shifted to other hospitals due to the fire incident at Bone and Joint hospital Barzulla are being treated by their own doctors at other hospitals in the city, authorities said on Saturday

Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Dr Aijaz Asad told the news agency—Kashmir News (KNO) that the 113 patients who were evacuated and shifted to other hospitals are being treated by their own doctors who were treating them at Bone and Joint hospital.

He said that doctors of Bone and Joint hospital are with their patients so that they won’t face any problem.

He further added that restoration work has been already started and very soon all services will be started at the hospital.

Meanwhile officials from Fire and Emergency department said that it was a very hectic operation as whole reinforcement from the entire Srinagar city was called that the hospital after which fire was brought under control.

They said that our first priority was to evacuate all patients, attendants and staff of the hospital and after evacuating them removal of 150 oxygen cylinders was of utmost importance.

Asad said that with the help of local volunteers, the fire and emergency department officials managed to remove all gas cylinders to safer places.

They further added that with the removal of oxygen cylinders on time, a major tragedy was averted.

Meanwhile Medical Superintendent of the hospital Dr Mian Suhail told KNO that there was damage in emergency operation theatre and faculty sitting rooms while the rest of the wards are safe.

He said that the damage caused due to fire is being assessed—(KNO)
