GANDERBAL, JUNE 28: The Deputy commissioner Ganderbal, Shafqat Iqbal (Chairman District Environment Committee) today convened a meeting of all members of District Environment Committee(DEC) to discuss the progress on  action areas taken up by different departments for implementation of District Environment Plan (DEP) in the district.

The meeting was attended by all the members of the committee including ADC Ganderbal- Farooq Ahmad Baba, ACR Ganderbal, Executive engineers of PHE and I&FC, General Manager, DIC Ganderbal, CMO Ganderbal, District Geology & Mining Officer Ganderbal, dy.  CEO Ganderbal besides officials of Muncipal Committee Ganderbal, pollution control board and Revenue deparment.

Threadbare discussion was held on action plans already taken or to be taken by the executing agency for implementation of District Environment Plan for environmental conservation and improving parameters in the district.

The meeting discussed all the action areas taken up by different departments of district Ganderbal including Clarification of observations raised by deparment of Forest, Ecology and Environment regarding revision of the DEP, preparation of revised action plan for restoration of water bodies in district, restoration/creation of ponds/water bodies, enforcement and monitoring  guidelines for sand mining, implementation of action Plan for enforcement of E-waste/Solid waste/Biomedical waste / Industrial waste management rules besides Air quality and water quality management plan.

The concerned officers/ Officials briefed the DC about the progress on action areas pertaining to their deparments for implementation of DEP in the district.

For proper dumping of solid waste, the DC asked the ACR to instruct the Tehsildar Ganderbal for identification of suitable pach of land outside the habitation.      After discussing  pros and cons of action areas, the DDC urged all stakeholders to identify other parameters causing affect to the district Environment and said that the action plan shall be as enshrined in the District Environment Plan and  aimed at improving overall parameters of environment in the district.
