GANDERBAL, AUGUST 07: District Development Commissioner (DDC), Ganderbal, Shafqat Iqbal today distributed different aids and appliances among Children with Special Needs (CWSN), at a distribution camp held here.

The function was organized by Education Department in collaboration with ALIMCO, Auxiliary Production Centre (a Government of India undertaking) under Samagra Sikhsha with an aim to provide different aids and appliances including hearing aids, sensory aids, walking aids and visual aids to the differently-abled school going children to enable them to work at par with other students.

Speaking on the occasion, the DDC said that specially-abled children are as good students as others, as such, deserve every possible support from the government as well as public level.

He stressed upon the need to facilitate the differently abled children by way of education, empowerment and to provide assistance so that they can excel in different fields of life.

The DDC appreciated the organizers for holding such a distribution camp and urged for holding more camps to cover left out students, especially in rural and far-flung areas of the district who could not come to such camps due to one or the other reason.

The aids and appliances that were distributed during the camp include tricycle, wheelchair, CP chair, MISD kit, elbow crutch, and Rolater.

Among others, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Farooq Ahmad Baba, Deputy Chief Education Officer, Inclusive Education coordinator, representatives from ALIMCO, ZEOs, ZEPOs, concerned officers, parents and students attended the function.
