GANDERBAL, FEBRUARY 13: District Development Commissioner Ganderbal, Shafqat Iqbal today convened the meeting of DDC members and BDC Chairpersons of the district to discuss the modalities for the formulation of Block and District Rural Road plans under the PMGSY-III.

The meeting was attended by DDC Chairperson/Vice Chairperson, DDC members and BDC chairpersons besides Chief Planning Officer, Executive Engineer PMGSY, Nodal Officer PMGSY Circle Ganderbal and other concerned.

During the meeting, Executive Engineer PMGSY Circle Ganderbal gave a detailed power point presentation about the objective and silent features of the plan.

It was informed that PMGSY-III is only for upgradation of existing roads with an objective to consolidate rural road network to boost access to markets, schools, hospitals and administrative buildings

After threadbare deliberation on PMGSY plan, the District Development Commissioner asked the concerned stakeholders to put forth their recommendations for its necessary approval keeping in view the need of their areas so that maximum population get the benefit of the scheme.

The Executive Engineer also apprised the meeting that an elaborate exercise has been carried out for the identification of the unconnected rural habitations and the roads which need upgrading.

The DDC members and the BDC Chairpersons also gave their valuable suggestions and feedback with regard to their developmental concerns for which the District Development Commissioner gave a patient hearing and assured full cooperation and support on the part of District administration to Panchayat bodies.

He also urged upon them to play a proactive and constructive role at the ground level for the larger benefit of the society and said that they are important stakeholders in the development setup who are mandated to ensure socio-economic development at the grass root level.
