BANDIPORA, JULY 08:  District Development Commissioner Bandipora, Zahoor Ahmad Mir Wednesday inaugurated the Kissan Pakhwada in the district being observed July 7 to July 21, 2020 with an aim to create awareness among farmers about several welfare schemes.
The inaugural programme was organised by the Department of Agriculture in collaboration with the Department of Horticulture, Animal Husbandry, Sheep Husbandry, Fisheries, J&K Bank (Convenor Bank, JKUTLBC) with the objective to achieve 100 percent KCC coverage during the fortnight. During the  inaugural function,  Kissan Credit Cards were distributed among farmers. 
A similar integrated awareness program was organized jointly by the Department Agriculture and allied sectors at Aloosa wherein the experts informed farmers about KCC scheme and also enrolled them as beneficiaries of the scheme. They also informed farmers about various schemes available for increasing the produce, revenue and income of the farmers to improve their socio-economic status.
While speaking at the launch, organized, DC Bandipora Zahoor Ahmad Mir said the objective of organising  ‘Kissan Pakhwada’ is to increase the flow of advances in the agriculture sector and double the income of farmers by way of their involvement in agricultural related welfare schemes like KCC, PM-KISAN and other schemes.
He stressed upon all stakeholders to play a proactive role for making Kissan Pakhwada a successful mission in the district and ensure hundred per cent coverage of farmers including those associated with cattle, Sheep   and Fish farming under the purview of centrally sponsored PM Kissan and KCC schemes.Mir asked the concerned officers to work in tandem to make the programme a grand success by achieving the target of hundred percent coverage of   the farmers associated with agriculture, horticulture, sheep, fisheries and other allied activities under centrally sponsored schemes – PM Kisan and Kisan Credit Card scheme.
The Deputy Commissioner asked for the active involvement of the PRI members in the programme in order to get positive results and directed the concerned officers to make sure observance of Covid protection SOPs and guidelines, while carrying out various activities related to the programme.On the occasion Chief Agriculture Officer Bandipora Farooq Ahmad informed that the department is organizing a mega Kisan mela in  Sher-e-Kashmir Sports stadium Bandipora 15 July and at Irrigation Colony Sumbal on 16 July.
The DC urged upon all the stakeholders to follow guidelines and SOPs related to COVID-19 while carrying out activities related to the campaign.
Among others, the meeting was attended by Chief Agriculture Officer Farooq Ahmad, Chief Horticulture Officer Bandipora, the officers of Agriculture, Horticulture, Fisheries, Banks, and other officers of concerned departments.
