DC Ganderbal chairs DLC meeting for Revival, Restoration, Preservation & Maintenance of Architectural & Heritage sites of district
GANDERBAL, MAY 19: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ganderbal, Shyambir today chaired a District Level Committee (DLC) meeting for the revival/ restoration/conservation/ Preservation and Maintenance of architectural and heritage sites of the district.
At the outset, the Deputy Director, Archaeology, and Museums briefed the chair about the mandate and objectives of the scheme and the progress made on the scheme so far.
During the meeting threadbare discussion was held about the already identified architectural and heritage sites including religious sites and shrines and brief discussion was held for revival, restoration and preservation of such sites.
While discussing the objectives of the scheme, the DC said that it is imperative to formulate and finalise plans for revival, restoration, preservation, and maintenance of architectural and heritage sites of the district and such a scheme will prove instrumental to restore the sites to their original positions.
The DC directed the Deputy Director Archaeology and Museums to conduct the survey of such sites in the district so that the list of sites is finalized and DPRs are framed accordingly.
He also assured him full cooperation from district administration in the execution of the scheme in the district and said that a multi-dimensional approach is needed for the revival of these sites including landscaping, approach path, informational boards, public amenities, clean-drinking water facility, etc. as mandated in the scheme.
The meeting was attended by Chief Planning Officer, Irfan Giri, Deputy Director, Archives, Archaeology and Museums, Srinagar, District Statistics and Evaluation officer and other concerned.
