GANDERBAL, DECEMBER 12: Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal, Shyambir today chaired the VIIth meeting of the District Skill Committee, Ganderbal here in the VC room of Mini Secretariat Ganderbal.

During the meeting various agenda points were discussed threadbare which included the implementation of District Skill Development Plan, Industry Demand Estimation Survey, formulation of Panchayat Skill Plan, and a booklet containing all schemes of self- employment and wage employment.

After a threadbare deliberation on the agenda points it was decided that Rural Self Employment Training Institute Ganderbal shall be including the five trades from the District Skill Development Plan in its annual action plan with the mobilization of interested candidates for the Entrepreneurship Development Course going to start in the Month of January.

The DC gave directions to Industry Engagement and Entrepreneurship Sub-Committee to complete the Industry Demand Estimation for Industrial Units in Ganderbal as soon as possible so that the avenues available for wage employment can be identified and separate skill courses may be included.

He further gave directions to the line departments to identify the proposed new units and units not performing well to provide them with required mentorship and training through the Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Indian Institute of Management Jammu.

It was also decided in the meeting that District Skill Committee shall be supporting Koshish NGO in preparing a booklet on the training centers of District Ganderbal and the self-employment and wage employment schemes being run by the line departments implementing livelihood creation schemes.

The proposal for Ganderbal Entrepreneurship Festival to be held in March 2023 was also presented. The initial preparation roles for the festival were given to different sub-committees of the District Skill Committee.

The DC called for capacity building of the members of the District Skill Committee Ganderbal so that the District Skill Committee work as envisioned by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship to enhance the skill ecosystem and promote entrepreneurship in Ganderbal.

The meeting was attended by the members of the District Skill Committee, Industrial Representatives and a representative of the NGO, Koshish.
