Ganderbal 19 Dec (KNZ):The work on the four laning project 3.75 KM Pandach- Beehama road was resumed from last week but the work is going on at a very slow pace, said locals.

“The road is of vital importance as it connects Ganderbal with Srinagar. It is currently too narrow which leads to frequent traffic jams,” they added.

Commuters, said that the proposal for the widening of Pandach-Beehama road was made a decade ago. After years of wait, the road widening work was started last year and again resumed from last week and very little progress has been made so far.

Sources said that District Development Board in 2017 approved funds for widening of the road under Central Roads Fund (CRF) now project has transferred to languishing project in order to complete the work on time and there are various bottleneck including land acquisition and rehabilitation of the shopkeepers which are hampering the progress of project.The cost of this project is 20 Crores

While talking to Incharge Engineer Hilal Ahmad said work from Beehama to pandach road has been resumed from last week because our Chief Engineer along with other officials visited the site last month and directed the concerned officials to complete the project on time.

Hilal Ahmad also said agency has deployed Men and machinery at the site and we will try our best to complete the project in next financial year.

He requested to violators don’t violate Ribon Devlopment act otherwise strict action will be initiated as per law.

When contacted, Executive Engineer R&B Ganderbal Zaffar Qureshi he said: “I know the work on the project is going slow. It is primarily because of poor funding and slow land acquisition process.Many stretch has been almost completed and land acquisition, rehabilitation of the shopkeepers which was hampering the progress of project.

In this current financial year various stretchs of road will be upgraded grade level 2nd including various cross drainage works,he added.KNZ
