Baramulla: Lt. General D P Pandey, GoC Chinar Corps Thursday said that Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) Bipin Rawat had a close connection not only with people of Baramulla but with entire Kashmir.

Addressing the media as per Kashmir Despatch Correspondent, while paying tribute to CDS Rawat in Baramulla, who along with his wife and eleven other were killed in a IAF chopper crash in Tamil Nadu Wednesday, Pandey said that every individual in Baramulla knew Bipin Rawat.

He added the people from Baramulla would make a phone call to General Rawat who earlier served as Company Commander here, Commander 5 and GoC.

“The people would share their problems with Rawat, he would then call me up to make sure that those issues were solved at earliest. And I am sure the loss is more felt by the people of Baramulla then by any other people,” Pandey said

Pandey who also went to Kathi Battalion in Baramulla were Bipin Rawat served as company commander initial days said that yesterday’s incident was a big tragic and it will take time to get over this grief.

He further said that, “I am sure the people of Baramulla are in much pain by the death of Bipin Rawat as much as the Indian army and entire nation.”

Pertinently, CDS Bipin Rawat, his wife and eleven other were killed in a helicopter crash in Tamil Nadu Wednesday. The helicopter carrying General Rawat who was appointed as first CDS in 2019 and his entourage crashed in apparently foggy conditions, killing the 13 people on board, the IAF and other officials said. One person survived the crash and is being treated at hospital. (Kashmir Despatch)
