Srinagar, Mar 09 (KB): In a heartwarming incident that showcases the power of honesty, an auto driver in central Kashmir’s Srinagar, returned a bag containing cash and foreign currency worth Rs 87,000 to the police without taking a single penny from it.

Reports reaching the Kashmir Bulletin– (KB), said that the incident occurred on March 9, 2023, when a tourist from Bangladesh, namely Mohammad Assudu Zaman and his wife were travelling in an auto-rickshaw from Dalgate to Boulevard Road in Srinagar.

“The passenger accidentally forgot the bag in the auto-rickshaw, which was later found by the auto driver, Mohd Aslam Guroo, son of Ali Mohd Guroo from Brein Nishat. Despite the opportunity to keep the valuable contents of the bag, Aslam Guroo chose to do the right thing and returned the bag to the police post Nehru Park.”

“When Assudu Zaman filed a police complaint regarding his missing bag containing cash and passport, both claims were verified, and the bag was returned safely to its owner. Assudu Zaman praised Aslam Guroo for his honesty, saying that his action had restored his faith in humanity,” they said.

“Aslam Guroo’s exemplary show of integrity has earned him widespread recognition and appreciation from the locals. His act of selflessness has set an inspiring example for others to follow, and his gesture has been applauded as a reminder of the importance of being honest, even in the face of temptation.”
