Srinagar, May 7, KNT: Former Hurriyat leader and close aide of several separatist leaders Dr Hubbi has said that his party will try its best to persuade the populace of Kashmir valley to participate in the election process. He said during a meeting of the working committee of the Hurriyat Conference in 1996, he had advocated the idea of participation in the election process but unfortunately, nobody supported him.

“Later on it came to the fore that Advocate Shaheen had also supported this idea,” he said while presiding a meeting of the Kashmir Peoples Party in Charar-e-Sharif town of central Kashmir’s Budgam district.

During the meeting, the current political scenario with context to the ongoing parliament elections was discussed and it was decided that KPP will also be a part of this election process and will appeal to people to exercise their franchise.

Dr Hubbi further said that his party is mulling to field its own candidates in the forthcoming coming assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir. [KNT]
