Srinagar, Mar 10 : A Patwari was arrested in a trap case in the Batamaloo area of Srinagar on Tuesday evening for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe, sources said.

According to officials, the action was taken after a complaint was received alleging that the Patwari had demanded a bribe from a complainant for performing an official task related to revenue records.

Following the complaint, a trap was laid by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), during which the accused Patwari identified as Safdar (Patwari Batamaloo) was caught red-handed while accepting the bribe amount in Batamaloo.

Officials said the accused was immediately taken into custody and the bribe money of ten thousand was recovered from his possession.

A case has been registered and further investigation into the matter is underway, they added. (KDC)
