Jammu, Dec 12 (KNO): Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbagh Singh Monday said that this year 56 foreign militants were killed and the figure is largest in the past several years while as out of the 109 new militants, 86 were killed and just 23 are remaining. He also said that number of both foreign as well as local militants has been brought to just two digits only.

Talking to reporters on the side-lines of a function in Jammu, DGP Dilbagh said that this year security forces achieved a major success against militancy. “This year 56 foreign militants were killed and the figure is largest if compared to past several years,” he said, as per news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO).

He said that the out of the “109 new militants”, 86 were killed in various encounters while only 23 are remaining who are on the radar of police and will be killed shortly.

Asked about the number of active militants in J&K, the DGP said that the number of foreigners’ as well as locals has been brought down to just two digits. “Militancy is on its death bed in J&K…..” he said. The DGP said that life of new militant recruits is very short

To a query about the number of militants ready to sneak in at the launch pads across the LoC, he said that there are a few militants who may be pushed into this side before the heavy snowfall. “But the counter infiltration grid is alert to foil all such bids,” he said, adding that the number of militants at the launch pads keeps on fluctuating.

About security arrangements in Jammu in view of last year’s attack bids, he said all measures are in place to foil any “nefarious plans.” “Our security grid is keeping a tight vigil,” he said.

Replying to a query about threats to journalists by militant groups through blogs like Kashmirfight, the DGP said that those issuing threats are the “mouth piece of Pakistan’s ISI.”

“They are playing this mischief to sustain militancy, which is on its death bed. We have acted against such blogs/sites by lodging cases/FIRs. Those supporting them are being taken to task. People need not to worry. Those indulging in issuing threats will be sternly dealt with,” he said. The DGP said that police and security forces have effectively dealt with the drone challenges and more measures are being taken to counter it—(KNO)
