Poonch, April 21: Tightening the nose against drug peddlers in the district, Poonch Police has booked 25 chronic drug peddlers under preventive measures in the district. The drug peddlers have been lodged in Jail for one (01) month’s period.
These offenders hail from various various parts across the district and have been found involved in peddling of drugs in their areas. These individuals are also implicated in different cases of NDPS Act and pose a potential threat to the lives of the younger generation of the district. It was also reported by many people and intelligence agencies that these individuals might pose a threat to the peaceful electioneering process during the upcoming elections. These notorious drug peddlers hail from the jurisdiction of Police Stations of Poonch, Surankote, Mandi, Mendhar and Gursai . The booked drug peddlers includes:
- Zubair Khan, son of Mohd Sharief, Pathan, resident of Morha Bachai.
- Abdul Wahid, son of Mohd Ikhlaq Khan, Pathan, resident of Morha Bachai.
- Izrar Shah, son of Ashiq Shah resident of Hari Surankote.
- Altaf Hussain Shah, son of Mohd Amin Shah resident of Phagla.
- Altaf Hussain, son of Mir Mohd Choudhary resident of Sanai.
- Waseem Ahmed, son of Mushtaq Ahmed Sheikh, resident of Salain Tehsil Surankote.
- Muzafar Iqbal (known as Kala), son of Barkit Hussain Janjua, resident of Gohlad Tehsil Mendhar.
- Kafiat Khan, son of Mohd Khalil Khan resident of Uchhad Tehsil Mankote.
- Mohd Gafoor, son of Nazir Hussain Choudhary resident of Dheri Debsi Tehsil Mankote.
- Imtaiz Ahmed, son of Mohd Fazal Choudhary resident of Gohlad.
- Ghulam Mustafa, son of Barket Hussain, Choudhary resident of Uchhad Tehsil Mankote.
- Nadeem Iqbal, son of Nazir Hussain Khokar resident of Gohlad Tehsil Mendhar.
- Anjum Abass Jaffri, son of Safdar Hussain Shah, resident of Gursai.
- Mohd Farooq, son of Mohd Rafiq Dar, resident of Loran A/P Qazi Mohra.
- Rahul Sharma (known as Kapil), son of Shashi Pal Sharma resident of Mohalla Power House Poonch.
- Zareen Akhter (known as Zoya), wife of Imtayaz Ahmed Khan resident of Loran A/P Mohalla Sarian Poonch.
- Rajat Kapoor, son of Rahul Kapoor, resident of Dungus Poonch.
- Sukhpreet Singh (known as Sukhi), son of Tajinder Singh resident of Khalsa Chowk Poonch.
- Sarabjeet Singh, son of Manjeet Singh resident of Azad Mohalla Poonch.
- Mohd Fareed som of Maner Hussain Choudhary , resident of Shahpur.
- Shab Din, son of Mohd Din Qureshi, resident of Jhallian (Bedar).
- Mohd Hafiz, son of Mohd Sharif, Khan resident of Bedar.
- Farhat Ali, son of Iqbal Hussain Shah resident of Gursai A/P Mandi.
- Mohd Younis, son of Abdul Aziz Naik, resident of Chamber Kanari and
- Adnan Arif, son of Mohd Arif Lone, resident of Gagrian.
More detentions of the identified drug peddlers can not be ruled out in the coming days.
