Ganderbal, Mar 7 (KNZ): Police have seized two more tippers allegedly involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minor minerals in Jammu and Kashmir’s Ganderbal district, officials said on Saturday.

The vehicles were intercepted in the jurisdiction of Police Station Gund while transporting material extracted without permission from Nallah Sindh, they said.

Police teams seized the vehicles on the spot in coordination with the Geology and Mining Department as part of an ongoing drive against illegal mining in the district.

Officials said illegal extraction results in loss to the public exchequer and poses a threat to the ecological balance of the region. Police warned that strict legal action will continue against those involved in unlawful mining and transportation of minerals.(KNZ)
