Srinagar: National Conference president Farooq Abdullah on Monday said that the special status of Jammu and Kashmir should not abrogated.

The former Chief Minister of the state said, “Article 35A & Article 370 should not be removed. It forms our foundation. There is no need to remove it. We are Hindustani but they (Article 35A & Article 370) are important for us.”

Tensions have grown in the state especially the valley after reports suggested that the Narendra Modi government is likely to brace its toughest decision yet, that is the abrogation of Article 35A.

According to India Today TV the big announcement could be made before August 15 i.e. on Independence Day.

Quoting sources it reported  that forces have worked out an elaborate plan to counter a possible mass uprising in Kashmir, following the abrogation of this Article.

Besides the usual standard operating procedures like restrictions on movement of people curfews and a suspension of internet, plans are also being worked out to prevent any big militant attacks during this period. According to inputs, plans are afoot for micromanagement of all districts in Kashmir in the aftermath of the revocation.
