Srinagar: Amid heavy snowfall thousands of people from different villages of Pulwama district and other areas of south Kashmir participated in funeral prayers of slain local Lashkar commander Irfan Ahmad Sheikh at his native village Chakoora village in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district.

Eyewitness told Kashmir Reader that amid heavy snowfall back to back multiple funeral prayers were offered to the slain Lashkar district commander amid pro-pro freedom and pro-azadi slogans.

Irfan Ahmad Sheikh was killed in brief encounter with government forces at his home village on Wednesday evening. Local sources told Kashmir Reader that police handed over the body of slain militant to family late Wednesday night.

Thousands of mourners from different villages of south Kashmir visited his native village soon after the body of the commander was handed over to his family members.

Meanwhile, a complete shutdown is also being observed in Pulwama town and adjoining villages to mourn the killing of Sheikh. All shops and other business establishment are closed while traffic in the town is also off the roads.(KR)
