 SRINAGAR, SEPTEMBER 19: There is a perfect synergy between Police and CRPF, who have been working and coordinating at different levels in tackling terrorism / law & order situations, and the Unified Command structure under the chairpersonship of Chief Minister has proved very beneficial for the co-operation between Police, CAPFs and Army.

This was stated by the Director General of Police (DGP) Dr. S.P Vaid during an interaction between senior officers of J&K Police and the 48th batch of CRPF trainee officers at PHQ.

 

Among others Special DGP, Sh. V.K. Singh, IGP CID Sh. A.G Mir, IGP Kashmir Sh. Muneer Ahmad  Khan, IGP Personnel PHQ Sh. Sh. J.P Singh, IGP Headquarter, PHQ Sh. S.K Gupta, DIG CRPF Sh. Narinder Paul. AIsGP PHQ Sheikh Junaid Mehmood, Sh. Mubassir Latifi, Sh. Sameer Rekhi, Sh. Kulbir Singh, Sh. Abdul Waheed Shah, Sh. Manoj Kumar Pandith were present during the interactive session.

During interaction DGP threw light on different policing initiatives of J&K Police for the maintenance of law and order and for better police- public relations. He said that police community partnership groups is one such initiative in which the jurisdictional police officers have been directed to convene meetings of respectable citizens of their respective areas to know their problems and grievances. He said that this mechanism has proved very fruitful as the issues pertaining to police department are redressed on spot while as other issues pertaining to other departments are conveyed to the respective head of the departments, thus police is acting as catalyst.

With regard to the cooperation between the two forces, the visiting training officers were told that police and CRPF have been working shoulder to shoulder for the last many years and mechanisms are in place to tackle the misuse of social media by anti-national/anti-social elements and to keep check on radicalization.

The common problems of police and CRPF such as safe housing,better  hospital facilities were also discussed  in the interaction. DGP said that the initiative of DG CRPF and Director of CRPF academy for this interaction is praiseworthy. He hoped that in future attachment of longer durations will be chalked out for benefit of the trainee officers.

Officer incharge of the batch and the representative of the visiting officers thanked the DGP and officers of J&K Police for the interaction and sharing valuable information about the police and policing in the State.
