Srinagar: J&K People’s Democratic Party (PDP) on Saturday staged a protest against tinkering with Article 35A of the Constitution that guarantees special privileges to Jammu and Kashmir.

The protest was held amid rising sense of unease ahead of hearing in the Supreme Court on August 6.

The party said that the state subject law has to be protected at any cost and no tampering with this law would not be tolerated.

While chanting pro-Article 35A and pro-kashmir slogans, scores of members of party marched from party head office towards the city center, Lal Chowk.

The protesters were led by party leader Nizam-ud-din Bhat.

Bhat while talking to media said, “we demand immediate dismissal of article 35A hearing in supreme court. If not than every single member of the party in the state is with the people of Jammu and Kashmir to fight”.

Later police foiled the protest by not allowing them to reach Lal Chowk.
