Srinagar, Aug 9: Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) on Thursday claimed to have killed eight para commandos of Indian Army in a two-day long gunfight in Rafiabad, Sopore of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.A spokesperson of LeT Dr Abdullah Ghaznavi in a statement issued to GNS said, “A handful of our mujahideen engaged the combined strength ofIndian paramilitary forces, SOG of JK Police and Rashtriya Rifles of Indian Army in Rafiabad gunfight despite being heavily outnumbered by the massive Indian forces and superior fire power on the Indian side”.Militants were able to inflict substantial losses on forces as a result of which special para commandos were deployed along with many more troops from Indian paramilitary, SOG of JK Police and RR of Indian Army, he said.“The special para commandos of Indian Army had to bite dust when casualties were inflicted on them as well.In the two day gunfight, 8para commandos were killed,” Ghaznavi said.“Our mujahideen ultimately achieved what they wanted to achieve –the martyrdom on the battlefield – but before that they made the enemy bite dust,” the spokesperson said.
