Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir police has arrested over two dozen people in southern Kashmir’s Pulwama and Shopian districts in last two days.

Sources told KR that over 30 youth have been arrested by the police since Sunday morning in separate raids.

They said that on Sunday in the wee hours, government forces cordoned Arihal village of the district and launched massive searches. “The youths pelted stones on the government forces triggering intense clashes,” they said.

During the stone pelting clashes government forces arrested atleast 17 youth, the sources added.

On Monday, the sources said, late night government forces conducted raids on the village and again arrested over a dozen youth.

The villagers accused the forces of ransacking several houses during the raids.

Senior Superintendent of Police Pulwama, Chandan kholi confirmed the arrest of locals to Kashmir Reader. “We have arrested around 30 persons and many of them are stone peleters and we are investigating the others role,” he said.

SSP added that “stone peleters restored to intense stone pelleting yesterday during the CASO.
