With the introduction of the Vande Bharat Express, Kashmir is now directly connected to Delhi via rail, passing over the world’s highest railway bridge—an extraordinary feat of engineering. The iconic rail link spans nearly 800 kilometers and has reduced the travel time between Delhi and Srinagar to around 13 hours, ushering in a new chapter of seamless connectivity.
Aqib Bashir stated that this historic achievement reflects the Government of India’s unwavering commitment to modern infrastructure, enhanced tourism, economic growth, and the holistic integration of Jammu & Kashmir with the rest of the country. He added that the project will open new opportunities for trade, travel, and employment, benefiting people across the region.
