GANDERBAL, JULY 9:Transport Commissioner Vishesh Paul Mahajan today conducted an extensive visit to key locations along the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra route to assess transport arrangements and strengthen coordination among the concerned agencies.
He was accompanied by ARTO Ganderbal and other field officials during the visit, which included inspections at Baltal, Domail Base Camp, and the Weighing Bridge at Sonamarg.
At Domail, the Transport Commissioner chaired a high-level review meeting with key stakeholders including SSP Traffic (Rural), Camp Director Domail, OC Beacon, and officials from the SSB. The meeting focused on streamlining vehicular movement, ensuring road safety, monitoring transport operations, and enhancing inter-agency coordination for the smooth conduct of the Yatra.
During his visit to Baltal, he reviewed the free transport services being provided to the pilgrims. He interacted with drivers and instructed them to maintain safe, disciplined, and comfortable transport services. Pilgrims at the site expressed satisfaction with the transport facilities and appreciated the efforts of the administration.
At the Weighing Bridge in Sonamarg, the Transport Commissioner directed ARTO Ganderbal to submit a comprehensive proposal for the modernization of the facility. This includes integration of advanced monitoring systems and provision of adequate infrastructure and staff accommodation.
Emphasizing the importance of continuous vigilance, coordination, and dedication to public service, the Transport Commissioner urged all stakeholders to maintain the highest standards in transport operations to ensure the continued success of the Yatra.
