Srinagar, October 9(GNS): Police on Thursday said that acting on specific intelligence inputs provided by Jammu and Kashmir Police, a joint team of the Indian Army and Kupwara Police established a Mobile Vehicle Check Post (MVCP) at Dardsun Chowk in the Warsun area of Kupwara on October 7, 2025.

In a handout to GNS, the police said that during the checking, one individual identified as Shakeel Ahmed Khan, a resident of Mersary, Chowkibal, was apprehended. On-the-spot search led to the recovery of one Chinese pistol, 10 rounds of 9mm ammunition, and 100 rounds of AK ammunition from his possession.

Following his arrest, the accused was handed over to Police Station Kralpora. During joint interrogation by the J&K Police and the Indian Army, the accused revealed the location of a hideout in the Brijthor Ridge area. Acting swiftly on this input, joint search parties were launched immediately.

The subsequent search operation, conducted during the intervening night of October 7 and 8, led to the recovery of a large cache of war-like stores, including 04 Disposable Rocket Launchers, 02 AK Series Rifles, 2,200 AK Rounds, 901 Pika Rounds, 01Chinese Pistol and
Other war-like material.

The operation concluded successfully at 8th oct evening , after thorough area sanitization.

Officials said that the swift and coordinated action of the security forces foiled major terror plans and led to the dismantling of a significant terror support module in the Kupwara region.

A senior officer lauded the professionalism and synergy between the Indian Army and J&K Police, stating that the operation underscores the unwavering commitment of security forces to maintain peace and stability in the Kashmir Valley, reads the statement.(GNS)
