Ganderbal, May 19:In a determined stride toward a drug-free society, Ganderbal Police have successfully apprehended a drug peddler and seized a quantity of heroin during a naka (checkpoint) operation in the jurisdiction of Police Post Gutlibagh.

The incident unfolded when a police party stationed at Wayil Wudder signaled a routine stop. A suspicious individual attempted to flee the scene but was swiftly intercepted by alert officers. Upon his personal search, a quantity of contraband substance, identified as heroin, was recovered and seized on the spot.

The accused has been identified as Nazir Ahmad Raina, son of Mohammad Ramzan Raina, a resident of Gagangeer, Sonamarg.

Following the recovery, a case has been registered under FIR No. 77/2025 at Police Station Ganderbal under the relevant sections of the NDPS Act. Further investigation into the matter is currently underway.
