Ganderbal :In a major breakthrough, Ganderbal Police successfully apprehended a kidnapper and rescued the abducted girl (name withheld) from the state of Himachal Pradesh, following a swift and well-coordinated operation.
Acting on specific intelligence and under the direct supervision of SSP Ganderbal, Shri Khalil Ahmad Poswal–JKPS, a dedicated police team from Police Post Shadipora traced and arrested the accused, identified as Firdous Rustum Khan, son of Rustum Ali Khan, resident of Shatigam, Handwara.
Investigations revealed that the accused, a habitual vagabond, had been married for around ten years and is the father of two children. He had been misusing social media and other online platforms to lure and exploit young girls, police sources said.
After completion of all medico-legal formalities, the recovered girl was safely handed over to her legal guardians. In this regard, FIR No. 185/2025 has been registered at Police Station Ganderbal under relevant sections of law, and further investigation is underway.
The prompt and professional response of Ganderbal Police has once again underscored their unwavering commitment to safeguarding women and ensuring law and order in the district.
Police have also urged the general public, particularly youth, to exercise caution while interacting with strangers online and to report any suspicious activity immediately to the nearest police station.
