Srinagar, Dec 25 (KNC): Kashmir Valley experienced another cold night as minimum temperatures across most districts dipped below the freezing point, while Ladakh continued to reel under severe cold conditions.
Jammu region, meanwhile, witnessed relatively milder temperatures, officials said on Wednesday.
According to temperature data compiled by Kashmir Weather as per news agency Kashmir News Corner — KNC, Srinagar recorded a low of minus 2.2°C, while Pahalgam and Gulmarg registered colder nights at minus 4.4°C and minus 5.4°C respectively.
Sonamarg emerged as one of the coldest places in the Valley at minus 7.3°C. Other districts including Pulwama (-3.8°C), Shopian (-4.0°C), Pampore (-2.5°C) and Srinagar Airport (-3.4°C) also witnessed freezing temperatures, reflecting the ongoing winter chill.
In the Jammu region, temperatures stayed comparatively higher, with Jammu city recording a minimum of 8.1°C and Katra at 8.4°C. However, colder conditions prevailed in upper areas, with Bhaderwah recording 0.3°C, Rajouri 2.6°C and Samba 2.9°C. Udhampur, Ramban and Banihal also reported chilly but above-freezing temperatures.
Ladakh remained in the grip of intense cold, with Leh recording a minimum temperature of minus 10.2°C, Kargil minus 9.8°C and Nubra Valley minus 8.3°C. Authorities have advised residents, especially in colder regions, to take necessary precautions as cold wave conditions continue. (KNC)
