Sonamarg, April 5(KNZ):In a significant move aimed at environmental conservation, the Tourism Development Authority Sonamarg has ordered the suspension of all snow skiing activities in the region due to the onset of the summer season.
According to an official order issued by the Chief Executive Officer of the Sonamarg Development Authority, the decision has been taken to protect the greenery and natural landscape of the meadows of Sonamarg, a popular tourist destination in Ganderbal district.
“With the onset of summer season and to preserve the greenery of the Meadows of Sonamarg area, the snow ski operations are seized henceforth. Any violation shall be dealt strictly,” the order reads.
This annual practice is aimed at maintaining the ecological balance of Sonamarg, which remains a major attraction for tourists during both winter and summer seasons.(KNZ)
