Notorious Drug Peddler Nabbed in Ganderbal; 9.8 Kg of Contraband Seized

In a significant breakthrough in its ongoing crusade against the drug menace, the Ganderbal Police have arrested a notorious drug peddler and seized nearly 10 kilograms of contraband from his possession in the jurisdiction of Police Station Gund.

Late Wednesday night, acting on a credible tip-off, the police raided the residence of Fayaz Ahmad Chichi, son of Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din Chichi, a resident of Chichipati Hariganiwan. The accused had reportedly concealed a large quantity of contraband in his cowshed.

Following swift action, a case under FIR No. 18/2025 was registered under the relevant provisions of the NDPS Act at Police Station Gund. A special police team, under the directions of SSP Ganderbal Shri Khalil Ahmad Poswal (JKPS) and in the presence of the Executive Magistrate 1st Class, carried out a meticulously planned raid at the suspect’s property.

The operation led to the recovery of a nylon bag containing 9.800 kilograms of Bhang Patri Powder, a narcotic substance. The accused was apprehended on the spot, and further investigation is currently underway to unearth the larger network behind the supply.

The Ganderbal Police have reiterated their commitment to eradicating drugs from society and have urged the public to share any information regarding such activities. Anonymity of informants is guaranteed.
