Kupwara, Nov 12, KNT: In a heartwarming gesture of communal harmony, a Muslim man from Teetwal in Karnah area of North Kashmir’s Kupwara district, has donated a piece of land for the construction of a toilet block at the Sharda Temple and Gurdwara complex located along the Line of Control (LoC) in Teetwal, North Kashmir.
According to officials from the All India Kashmiri Samaj (AIKS), the donor, Ghyasuddin, has voluntarily gifted one marla of land free of cost for the purpose, addressing a long-pending need that had remained unresolved for the past three years. The initiative aims to provide basic facilities to the pilgrims and visitors who frequent the historic temple and gurdwara site.
Ajaz Khan, who carried the land documents from Teetwal on behalf of the donor, was felicitated by AIKS at an event held in New Delhi on Tuesday. “We are grateful to the donor and felicitating Ajaz Khan, who has been coordinating for the Sharda Mission, President of AIKS.
He added that the construction of the toilet block will be undertaken soon by the Save Sharda Committee, which manages both the Sharda Temple and the Sikh Gurdwara at Teetwal. “This noble gesture fills a gap that the administration couldn’t address for years,” Pandita said.
Ajaz Khan, who coordinates between the Army, civil administration, and the Sharda Committee, has been instrumental in facilitating yatras to the shrine. He has overseen arrangements for over 10,000 pilgrims, including 2,000 Kashmiri Pandits, ensuring smooth conduct of religious activities even during cross-border tensions and ceasefire violations.
