Sumbal, Aug 30: The Municipal Committee Sumbal has issued a clarification regarding a video circulating on social media alleging irregularities in the implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY).

According to officials, the allegations are unfounded, misleading, and not based on facts. Authorities stated that all PMAY cases were sanctioned strictly as per the guidelines of the Government of India, with beneficiaries identified through surveys conducted in 2018.

The Jammu and Kashmir Housing Board, the implementing agency of the scheme, has engaged city and district-level experts to ensure proper execution. Bills are prepared by the City Level Technical Cell (CLTC), verified by designated field committees, and forwarded to higher authorities for scrutiny. Officials clarified that no payments are released without due verification.

Under the PMAY scheme, residential units are constructed by the beneficiaries themselves, while financial assistance is released in phases after physical verification by field staff and third-party agencies. All payments are made directly into beneficiaries’ bank accounts via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), ensuring transparency.

Authorities further emphasized that only those meeting the eligibility criteria are provided benefits, and there is no discrimination or favoritism on the basis of political affiliation or any other factor.

Reiterating its commitment, the Housing Board stated: “The allegations circulated in the video are baseless and devoid of factual ground. PMAY is being implemented in a transparent, rule-based, and fair manner for all eligible beneficiaries.”

For queries, clarifications, or grievances related to PMAY, residents have been urged to visit the concerned office during working hours or contact on +91 70062 71409, +91 70065 46730, or +91 70060 838025.
