Ganderbal, Feb 19(KNZ): On the directions of the Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal, authorities carried out an intensified market checking drive in Gund area of Sub-Division Kangan, officials said Thursday.

 

The inspection was conducted jointly by teams from the Food Safety Department, Revenue Department, and Police to ensure compliance with food safety and hygiene standards.

 

During the drive, officials found violations under provisions of the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, and imposed a fine of ₹3,000 on erring vendors for non-compliance with regulations.

 

Authorities said the initiative aims to curb the sale of unsafe or substandard food items and safeguard public health. They added that such enforcement drives will continue across Ganderbal district, warning that strict action will be taken against violators.

 

Officials also urged shopkeepers and food business operators to strictly adhere to food safety norms and maintain hygiene standards to avoid penalties.(KNZ)
