GANDERBAL, 09 Feb 9:In a major breakthrough in its fight against crimes against children, the District Police Ganderbal has secured a 20-year rigorous imprisonment for an accused in a case registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The conviction is being seen as a significant achievement in the district’s efforts to ensure justice for vulnerable victims and deter such heinous crimes.
The accused, Rouf Ahmad Ganaie, son of Bashir Ahmad Ganaie, a resident of Takiya Khalmulla Nagbal, Ganderbal, was sentenced to 20 years of imprisonment along with a fine of ₹50,000 by the Hon’ble Court of Principal Sessions Judge, Ganderbal. The conviction was delivered under Sections 3/4 of the POCSO Act.
The court’s verdict came after a strong and well-coordinated prosecution, backed by thorough investigation and effective legal representation. The case was prosecuted by Mr. Shafat Ahmad Bhat (Public Prosecutor) and argued by Mr. Jehangir Rafiqi (Public Prosecutor), whose efforts were instrumental in securing the conviction.
The investigation was conducted by Sub-Inspector Mohammad Akbar, whose diligent, meticulous, and professional handling of the case played a crucial role in ensuring that the accused was brought to justice.
