Ganderbal, Feb 18(knz): A joint team of officials from Police Station Lar, the Food Safety Department and the Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs Department conducted a market checking drive in Lar to ensure fair pricing, quality standards and availability of essential commodities ahead of the holy month of Ramzan, officials said.

During the inspection, teams visited various markets and examined shops dealing in food items, fruits, vegetables, bakery products and other goods witnessing high demand during the fasting month. Officials verified displayed rate lists, checked product quality and hygiene conditions, and reviewed stocks to prevent hoarding and black marketing.

Shopkeepers were directed to prominently display updated price lists and strictly follow approved rates. Traders were also sensitised about maintaining cleanliness and selling quality products to consumers.

Officials said the drive was aimed at safeguarding public interest, maintaining price stability and ensuring smooth supply of essential commodities during Ramzan. They added that similar inspections will continue in the coming days to enforce regulations and provide relief to consumers.
