Jammu, October 24:As part of the Civic Action Programme 2025-26, the JKAP 8th Battalion Miran Sahib, Jammu organized a Volleyball Tournament at its Battalion Headquarters with great enthusiasm and public participation. The event is being held under the supervision of Sh. Suram Singh, JKPS (SSP), Commandant JKAP 8th Battalion.
The inaugural match, played between Government Degree College R.S. Pura and Simbal Volleyball Club, marked an energetic beginning to the tournament.
While addressing the gathering, Commandant Sh. Suram Singh highlighted the vital role of Jammu and Kashmir Police in promoting community bonding, mutual trust, and cooperation between the police and the public. He emphasized that such sports initiatives play a crucial role in character building, teamwork, and channelizing the energy of youth away from social evils toward constructive pursuits.
The Commandant further encouraged participants to take active part in sports and assured that JK Police will continue to organize similar community-oriented events under the Civic Action Programme to strengthen police-public relations and promote healthy lifestyles among youth.
The opening day witnessed massive participation and a large public gathering, who appreciated the sustained efforts of JKAP 8th Battalion in creating positive engagement opportunities for young people through sports. The matches were played in a cordial and disciplined environment, reflecting the spirit of unity, teamwork, and harmony between the police and the community.
At the conclusion of the first day’s events, participating players were awarded individual certificates as a token of encouragement. The tournament—open to both boys and girls—will continue on a regular basis and is scheduled to culminate in the first week of November 2025.
The event was successfully coordinated with the active support of Sh. Chanderjeet Singh, SSP (Dy. Commandant), Sh. Bhupinder Singh (DySP), Sh. Om Prakash (DySP), Sh. Tilak Raj (DySP), and Sh. Prabhu Dayal (DySP), along with other officers of the Battalion.
Several prominent personalities and educationists from the area also attended the opening ceremony, including Sh. Rajeev Sharma (PPS Miran Sahib Jammu), Ms. Shamali Ji (Mother India Secondary School R.S. Pura), Sh. Gurmeet Singh (Govt. Boys High School Kotli Shah Doula), Sh. Gurjeet Singh (Army Public School Miran Sahib), Sh. Manmeet Singh (Simbal Volleyball Club), Sh. Shubam Mehta (J&K Public School Kunjwani), and Ms. Rupali Salathia (Govt. Degree College R.S. Pura).
The JKAP 8th Battalion reiterated its commitment to continue such people-friendly initiatives that promote sportsmanship, discipline, and police-public partnership—laying the foundation for a more connected and harmonious society.
