Ganderbal, March 15, 2025: The Jammu & Kashmir Department of Floriculture today celebrated Chinar Day with a Plantation Drive & Heritage Walk at Qamriya Park, Ganderbal. The event was inaugurated by Mr. Sheikh Altaf, Assistant Director Floriculture (Ganderbal/Bandipora District), who, along with his team, planted Chinar saplings to mark the occasion.
Renowned Social Reformer, Campaigner, and Motivational Speaker Bilal Bhat also participated in the event. Addressing the gathering, he highlighted the historical and ecological significance of the Chinar tree and urged the public to take active participation in preserving and restoring this iconic heritage.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Sheikh Altaf emphasized the department’s commitment to the conservation and expansion of Chinar plantations across the district. He announced that the Chinar Plantation and Awareness Drive will continue in various locations to educate people on the importance of protecting this symbol of Kashmir’s rich heritage.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from officials, environmental activists, and local residents, reflecting a strong commitment towards environmental sustainability and cultural preservation.
